**Responsibilities**

  • Creating (untextured) low poly models of stylized space ships and guns
  • Creating projectile & explosion Vfx either in Niagara or via 2D sprite animations
  • Optional: 2D icon design
  • **Project motivation:**

    Auto-battlers and roguelikes form one of the most successful indie-game genres with multiple recently published indie-titles **selling 1.000.000+ copies**.

    The **core gameplay is already fully implemented** and close to feature-complete. The game is primarily lacking appealing visuals and music/sound effects.

    Length of project: I started development over 1.5 years ago and aim to start **public playtesting Q1/2026** and release the game **summer 2026**.

    **Qualifications**

  • 3+ years Unreal Engine experience
  • 3D modeling workflow using the tools of your choice
  • Experience with Niagara or 2D art
  • Gameplay description:

    Each round, the player buys new ships to add to the fleet and unlocks upgrades to increase its combat efficiency. A match goes over multiple rounds and the player faces a different opponent in each round. It is implemented as an asynchronous multiplayer experience to work well independent of active player numbers, where players only battle fleets that were previously configured by other players. The most innovative feature of this game lies in its immense scale. It features **massive encounters of up to 10.000 ships**, each one operating based on a set of intelligent AI decisions. It uses Unreal Engines new Mass ECS system and the feasibility of this massive scale has already been proven in a **fully working prototype implementation, producing stable 120fps** even on mid-end devices.
