**Responsibilities**

  • Design and balance core gameplay systems (ships/guns/upgrades, meta-progression)
  • Develop and maintain clear design documentation for mechanics and content.
  • Analyze playtest data and player feedback to improve game balance, pacing, and UX.
  • **Game idea and project motivation:**

    Players let their fleets clash against each other in asynchronous multiplayer battles (PvP, but without requiring large numbers of concurrent players). Fleets are upgraded in a truly roguelite fashion, getting stronger each round. New upgrades and fleets are unlocked over time, making each run unique.

    Auto-battlers and roguelites form one of the most successful indie-game genres with multiple recently published indie-titles selling 1.000.000+ copies.

    A vertical slice is already fully implemented and close to feature-complete. Contact me to get access to a pre-alpha build on Steam.

    **Length of project:** I started the development ~2 years ago and aim to start public playtesting Q1-Q2/2026 and release the game Q3/2026.

    **Qualifications**

  • Experience designing gameplay systems for strategy, roguelite, or auto-battler games.
  • Strong understanding of UX, balance, and player decision loops
  • Experience in balancing data-driven content
  • **Gameplay description:**

    Each round, the player buys new ships to add to the fleet and unlocks upgrades to increase its combat efficiency. A match goes over multiple rounds and the player faces a different opponent in each round. It is implemented as an asynchronous multiplayer experience to work well independent of active player numbers, where players only battle fleets that were previously configured by other players. The most innovative feature of this game lies in its immense scale. It features massive encounters of up to 10.000 ships, each one operating based on a set of intelligent AI decisions. It uses Unreal Engines new Mass ECS system and the feasibility of this massive scale has already been proven in a fully working prototype implementation, producing stable 120fps even on mid-end devices.
