**Responsibilities**

Maximize the potential of our artists, worldbuilding and gameplay at Notiontheory by:

  • creating and implementing dynamic and baked lighting for all game environments and cinematics
  • crafting lighting to establish mood, guide player focus, and support the narrative
  • developing and tuning post-processing effects, including color grading, exposure, and atmospherics
  • utilizing the full range of Unreal Engine's lighting pipeline, from real-time Lumen to baked Lightmass workflows
  • implementing and optimizing all reflection systems (captures, planar, SSR)
  • collaborating with environment, level design, and tech art teams to ensure lighting supports art direction and gameplay
  • profiling and optimizing all lighting elements to meet project performance budgets
  • debugging and resolving lighting artifacts and performance issues, including light leaks, shadow errors, and bottlenecks
  • defining and documenting lighting style guides and best practices to ensure visual consistency across the project
  • **Qualifications**

  • a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in real-time lighting for games
  • deep understanding of Unreal Engine's lighting pipeline (Lumen, Lightmass, Post-Processing, Reflections)
  • strong understanding of color theory, composition, light, and shadow
  • familiarity with lighting optimization techniques and performance profiling in Unreal Engine
  • knowledge of how PBR materials and shaders interact with light
  • fluency in English (written, spoken)
  • working microphone and webcam
  • strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • excellent communicator, able to collaborate across disciplines
