Define and communicate core gameplay mechanics, progression, and design pillarsPrototype and tune systems like traversal, scent-tracking, stealth, and creature interactionDesign modular biomes, stealth encounters, and non-verbal story-driven gameplayBuild levels using greyboxing, focusing on flow, pacing, and spatial storytellingCreate and balance NPC encounters, puzzles, and mission structuresOwn design documentation: specs, progression maps, and tuning sheetsLead internal playtests, design reviews, and retrospectivesCollaborate with environment artists, animators, and tech teams to align creative visionWork closely with production to align design scope with milestones and deliveryMentor other designers, providing feedback and leading team-wide design critiques**Qualifications**
Live or relocate to NZ5+ years of experience in game design with at least one shipped title as senior/lead designerProven ability to design and prototype third-person gameplay systems and mechanicsExperience with at least one shipped console title (PSX, Xbox, or Switch)Strong understanding of gameplay loops, player psychology, and system tuningProficient in Unreal Engine (Blueprints, greyboxing, scripting)Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving indie studio environmentIterative mindset with a passion for prototyping and feedback-driven designStrong cross-functional collaboration skillsBonus: Experience with narrative design or procedural content systems**How to Apply**
