Scopely is looking for a QA Lead to join our unannounced project team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis, working three days a week from the hub. We can support with visa sponsorship and relocation assistance.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, building a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey.

 

What You Will Do

As QA Lead, you will coordinate and oversee quality efforts within your game area, ensuring comprehensive coverage and alignment across development teams. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will manage daily QA operations, define testing priorities, and ensure smooth collaboration between QA, production, design, and engineering.

  • Quality Leadership & Coordination: You will coordinate QA efforts within your game area, managing daily operations to ensure efficient testing, complete coverage, and alignment with project milestones. Acting as the primary QA point of contact, you’ll maintain clear communication with production, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality results on schedule
  • Team Management & Development: You will lead and mentor a team of QA Analysts, guiding their daily work and professional growth while fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment. You’ll set clear goals, promote accountability, and encourage continuous learning and improvement across the team
  • Planning & Execution: You will develop and maintain test plans and strategies aligned with design and technical requirements, overseeing execution across gameplay, systems, UI, and backend components. You’ll ensure consistent coverage across platforms, identifying gaps and adjusting resources as the project evolves
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will collaborate with engineers, producers, and designers to integrate quality standards throughout development, from concept to release. Working with localization, deployment, and live ops teams, you’ll help validate updates and patches while coordinating with external QA partners to maintain consistent quality and delivery standards
  • Quality Insights & Continuous Improvement: You will analyze data and defect trends to identify risks and root causes, providing clear insights to project leadership. You’ll deliver concise QA reports on coverage and release readiness while driving process improvements, automation, and workflow optimizations to enhance overall efficiency
  • Release & Live Operations Support: You will lead release readiness testing to ensure stable, high-quality builds across all platforms. You’ll support incident triage, regression testing, and post-release analysis to maintain stability and performance while helping build a scalable QA framework that supports the project’s growth into live operations

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of QA experience in the video game industry, with at least 1–2 years in a coordination or lead role
  • Proven experience overseeing QA for complex gameplay systems or live service titles
  • Strong understanding of QA processes, methodologies, and risk-based testing approaches
  • Skilled in planning, scheduling, and coordinating QA efforts across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficient in JIRA, Testmo, and version control or build management tools
  • Familiarity with Unity and experience testing across multiple platforms (mobile, PC, console)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor and support QA team members while maintaining accountability and clear expectations
  • Experience collaborating with external QA partners or co-development studios
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Barcelona, with a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office)
